Stay in your comfort zone

Stay where you're comfortable...provided you're winning.

Chessplayers have an uncanny way of making the same moves, playing the same
openings, and employing the same strategy in every game they play. They do this
because they can know they can be successful. They are comfortable with what
works. In other words they are in their comfort zone. This is perfectly alright, as long as they’re winning.

I’m sure you’ve heard the statement “to be successful get out of your comfort zone.” Most self-help books and motivational speakers have relayed this sentiment. However, if you are achieving a certain level of success in your comfort zone then stay there. If you’re doing well where you are, why change. The time to get out of your comfort zone is when things start to falter and success slows to a grinding halt. If a person who bakes cookies tries several recipes then find a recipe that produces excellent cookies then they will stay with that recipe. Why would they change or tweak it if it’s working and bringing success. Football fans know about the Green Bay Packers of the 60’s and how they ran the power sweep on a regular basis. They did it because they were in there comfort zone and were successful.

Changing something that is working just because you believe change is good or someone thinks you should change is foolhardy. This is true in business, school,
sports, exercise, knitting, cooking and life in general. Stay in that comfort or success zone until your achievements start to diminish. Then at that point you can tweak some things and then change things. The moral of the story is very simple, if you are succeeding at what you are doing then continue on that course of action and stay in your comfort zone.

This should be a great evening. Steve Berry, is one of the greatest authors of my decade along withRead More James Patterson. They both have done their homework in research and story-telling. I would love to listen to him, however, I will not be in the area that week. It would be wonderful if he were invited to the Heights area, either Legacy, Beachwood, Cleveland Hts., because he would bring down the house with fans. Thank you, again. Love his tales.
