My First Death Cafe

Last week I attended my first Death Cafe. Yes, you read that right - Death Cafe. And you know what? I had fun!

The event was hosted by eFuneral in partnership with Hospice of Western Reserve and was held at Luna Bakery in Cleveland Heights. While about 60 others showed up to contemplate end-of-life, death, and dying with me, I got to speak intimately with seven other individuals when we were split into groups. For more than an hour we shared our personal thoughts on living a meaningful life and planning for our final days. We also shared our hopes and fears around death and our perspectives on what happens when our hearts stop beating.

Not only was the conversation fascinating, it inspired me to appreciate each day, each person, each conversation, and each smile.

I am excited to continue the conversation on Twitter through eFuneral's weekly chats on Tuesdays from noon until 1PM. If you'd like to join me, simply send your questions or comments to the handle @efuneral and include the hashtag #efuneralchat in your tweet.
