Easy and Delicious Way to Get Your Fruits and Veggies In!

Looking for an quick and easy energy boost?

I am so excited about my Mother’s Day gift this year! I know most people say that household appliances are not a good gift, but in this case, I have to disagree.  My husband surprised me with a Vitamix, which is a commercial grade blender that blends all kinds of fruits and vegetables, skin and all! Okay, so maybe it is not as exciting to you as it is to me, but I have wanted one since I went to nutrition school — just had a hard time justifying the price. I have to say that the cost is definitely worth it as long as you don’t let it sit in your cupboard!

I must admit, I am having the best time experimenting with different smoothies and testing them out on my children to see if they are kid friendly. I have teenage boys and as long as I give my smoothie a name that have the words “power” or “energy” in it, they are willing to try them. The one I recently made got really good reviews so I wanted to share it with all of you. Now, mind you, it is not going to taste as sweet as the smoothies your kids may be used to, but it tastes great and is a great way to get more veggies into you and your children’s diet.

I personally like to make a smoothie after my morning workout. It is a great way to rehydrate the body and gives me a boost of energy until lunch!

Oh, and one more thing…If you are saying to yourself that there is no way your child is going to drink a smoothie that looks green, do not worry.  The fruit will make it so they will not see green at all.

Enjoy and please tell me what you or your child thought of it!
