Sneaker show more than quadruples in size in two years

Showcase brings collectors, shoe underground to Northeast Ohio

Cleveland – June 14, 2012 – Two friends. Hundreds of pairs of shoes. One goal. To bring together hundreds, if not thousands, of sneaker enthusiasts to raise money for a deserving organization.

This is the plan for the third Cleveland’s Got Sole Sneaker Showcase on Sunday, June 24 at the Embassy Suites in Beachwood, which will benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

 

“It takes something pretty amazing to get people from the East, West and Gulf coasts to fly or drive to Cleveland for an event,” said Kevin Kramer, Akronite and founder of Cleveland’s Got Sole. “There are other shoe shows around the country but nothing comes close to this in size and mission, which is to raise and donate as much money as possible in one day.”

 

Kramer, with co-chairperson Andrew Watts of Cleveland, chose to donate proceeds from the 2012 show to the Children’s Tumor Foundation to increase awareness of neurofibromatosis (NF), a disease causing tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body that can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain.

 

“When we learned that neurofibromatosis affects more people than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington's disease combined, we knew we had found the beneficiary of CGS3,” Kramer said. “There is no known cure yet, but money raised at this event will support NF research.”

 

The noon to 5 p.m. exhibition will showcase more than 85 displays featuring shoe collections, clothing brands and sneaker collectibles. This is four times as many participants than in its first year. New York City disc jockey Terry Urban has donated his time to emcee and provide music at the event.

 

General admission for Cleveland’s Got Sole is $10, which includes five raffle tickets. Attendees can purchase additional raffle tickets at the show for $1 each to enter to win the following rare shoes and clothing packages:

  • DS Jordan XII Playoffs
  • Jordan IV Military
  • DS Size 10 Dave White Jordan
  • Tons of clothing from multiple local clothing brands
  • Many other shoes and prizes to be announced

 

“Cleveland’s Got Sole is, above all else, a showcase for Cleveland itself,” Watts said. “We are highlighting Cleveland’s premier clothing labels, skate shops, sneaker and street wear boutiques and sneaker collections. We are welcoming collectors from all over the country, showing them what Cleveland is all about, and giving all proceeds to a great cause.”
