Walk to End Alzheimer's

HELP PUT AN END TO ALZHEIMER’S THIS FALL

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a united movement to reclaim the future for millions. Walks are held nationwide and are the Association’s signature community involvement events that raise funds to fight Alzheimer’s and provide programs to assist the more than five million Americans with the disease (56,000 in Northeast Ohio). Alzheimer’s disease is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.

The Association is pleased to announce three Walk events in Northeast Ohio this year, including a new event on the east side.

The downtown Cleveland marquee walk will take place Sunday, October 13 at Tower City. The west side walk will take place Saturday, September 21 at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon. The new east side walk will be held at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland on Saturday, September 29.  Activities for all walks begin at 8:30 am.

More than 3,000 people from the greater Cleveland area are expected at this year’s events to walk in a unified effort to end Alzheimer’s. Walk participants will enjoy family friendly activities at Tower City, Holden Arboretum and in All Pro Freight Stadium. Each walker will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease. Following the morning festivities, walkers will have a choice of taking either a one or three mile walk route.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.  The event also serves to educate the community about the disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical trial enrollment and support programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®, http://www.alz.org/walk now called Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  The end of Alzheimer’s disease starts here.  To start or join a team, go to alz.org/cleveland or call 800.272.3900.
