Towns Around Us: News Roundup

Check out the newsworthy events happening in the cities around us

There's a big world outside of Beachwood, and here's what happened this week:

1. Huron Hospital announced that it would close in 90 days because traffic has decreased and the cost to maintain the building is exorbitant. That didn't sit well with residents, and they held a rally to oppose the decision this week.

2. A man was found dead in his Twinsburg home. At first police thought it was a possible homicide, but the coroner said there was no sign of foul play. He's waiting for test results to come back to make a final ruling.

3. Kent native and solider Adam Hamilton was laid to rest this week after being killed in Afghanistan. Hundreds of people came to pay their respects at his calling hours, which were held at Theodore Roosevelt High School.

4. Kent State Stark professor Sebastian Birch biked all the way to South Carolina just to put his feet up for a bit then bike in a 100-some mile race. He placed 58th out of 1,000 participants. Pretty impressive!

5. Mentor police arrested Joseph Thomas in connection to the Annie McSween murder that took place last year around Thanksgiving. He was arraigned in court and held on a $1 million bond.
