Nearly a Foot of Snow Possible

After brief winter reprieve, heavy snow to return to area

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of northern Ohio, calling for up to a foot of snow in some areas.

The warning will be in effect from 9 tonight through 4 p.m Friday.

According to the weather service, a strong low-pressure system will move from Cincinnati toward Youngstown tonight, with rain, sleet and eventually snow and heavy winds. The heaviest accumulation is expected between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday.

By Friday afternoon, we're expected to see snow accumulation of six to 10 inches, with some areas getting up to a foot. Winds are expected to pick up Friday, with gusts expected up to 35 mph.
