Ahuja Offers Ancient Healing Courses

Anisha Durve's class on implementing the ancient healing science begins next week

Beachwood has one of only two medical centers in Ohio that offers instruction on practicing Ayurveda, a healing science that has been practiced in India for thousands of years.

Anisha Durve brought it to Ahuja Medical Center about a year ago when University Hospitals hired her to offer Ayurveda as part of its Connor Integrative Medicine Network, according to a Plain Dealer article.

In part, the science is about balancing one's mind, body and spirit with herbs, massage and nutrition. It can be used to aid anything from back pain to glaucoma.

"Ayurveda and TCM represent something our ancestors have known for generations about the depth of healing, which I found missing in [American] culture, especially when it comes to chronic conditions," Durve told the PD.

Beginning next Wednesday, Durve will lead a four-week Ayurveda class at Ahuja. It lasts from 6 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday.
