Etiquette of a Thank You Note

When I walk to get the mail and find a handwritten envelope, it takes me back a minute or two. Could it be a letter or a thank you note, I ask? I know it sounds a bit overdramatic but some things in this world are still considered that special!

The art of letter writing is so lost in today's society. It would be great if parents were teaching their children or better yet themselves to write thank you notes again.

What a rite of passage to have stationary with your name and address printed on it. To have a special drawer, box or container just for stationary, markers, nice pens and stickers for the sole purpose of letter writing.

For some that still exists. It is something I eagerly teach in my programs. An emailed thank you note is just not acceptable. Today, I received one of those special thank you notes from a newly married couple. Their thank you note included all of the right elements to make me, the receiver, feel special...the greeting..the thank you...mentioning the gift...mentioning something special about the gift...mentioning the event and our presence being there...and a lovely sign off.  

So this week, make it a goal to bring this art back into your life. First step, make your own stationary box!
