Cheers! Menorah Park Adds Pubs to Dining Options

R.H. Myers Apartments will open 28-seat English pub for residents next week.

When you think of assisted living facilities’ entertainment options, you may think of bridge and mah jongg games, 4 p.m. dinners and 6 p.m. bingo.

But Menorah Park Center for Senior Living is thinking tavern burgers, chicken fingers, and beer.

“We want to change every perceived notion of what goes on at a senior living residence,” said R.H. Myers Apartment Administrator Stew Collins. “Our residents will have yet another place to socialize in a fun and casual setting among friends."

The 28-seat pub will have a full bar and be open for dinner 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily to tenants of the building as well as residents on Menorah Park’s campus.

During the day, the space will be open for tenants as an additional informal gathering place.

Menorah Park Administrator Richard Schwalberg said that the pub is part of a larger drive to offer variety and fine dining for tenants and residents at Menorah Park.

“This is just another way Menorah Park rises above and beyond the status quo; knowing food is a basic, innate necessity, we want it to be enjoyable as well," he said. "We work diligently to ensure that we continually give our residents the best dining experiences available, so they can enjoy fine food with many choices, any time they so desire.”

The campus recently added an overnight dining service offering hot and cold sandwiches and sides 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily and a revamped “Signature” menu for its dining rooms. Two days a week, the campus provides a shuttle between the campus’ four residential buildings so tenants can eat in other dining rooms. has introduced a recipe-sharing program, where residents submit their own recipes for the dining room to prepare for the whole facility.

The facility will cut the ribbon on the Myers Pub Monday, July 16, and seat its first dinner Tuesday, July 17.
