Bites Nearby: Claddagh

'Hearty, Simple, Comforting' arrives in Lyndhurst from Ireland

Claddagh Irish Pub is located near the main entrance in Legacy Village. Their motto “Hearty, Simple, Comforting” is carried through  in ambiance, service and food. The décor is reminiscent of an Irish public house, or pub. There is a large beer selection with Guinness and Smithwick's, Ireland’s oldest beer, on draft. Irish music and tantalizing aromas greet you as you walk in. The advent clock counts down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until St. Patrick’s Day.

The menu contains primarily Irish fare, with a nod to other cuisines. The menu is clearly marked with Claddagh specialties and vegetarian items. Starter specialties include corned beef and cabbage rolls, shamrock wings and mussels. ($6-10).

Lunch menu has several chef specialties such as clam chowder and Guinness onion soup ($3-5), as well as salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Claddagh lunch plates are available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. These plates have lunch sized portions of dinner options or feature some of the more popular sandwiches ($6).

Main courses include vegetarian mac and cheese to New York strip steak. The menu is further rounded out by “favorites from the homeland” such as bacon and cabbage, sheperd’s pie, and bangers and champ ($8-23).

Stepping into Claddagh is not just for St. Patrick’s Day. This is a way to travel “across the pond” in a matter of minutes.
