Beachwood Woman Fights Plaque With Video Game

Cavity Dragons app teaches kids to brush teeth while having fun.

Lisa Danielpour knows how challenging it can be to get little kids to brush their teeth. So she made a game out of it.

Cavity Dragons, an app available on iTunes for more than a week now, allows kids to have fun brushing their teeth, said Danielpour, a Beachwood resident.

“Every morning and evening parents have the struggle of getting kids to brush their teeth,” Danielpour said. “With Cavity Dragons, we make it fun and engaging.”

In the game, players control a firefighter who shoots toothpaste at dragons, bits of food and fire damaging a set of teeth. Once the screen is clear, the firefighter jumps on a toothbrush skateboard and brushes the teeth clean.

When testing it on her 4-year-old nephew, Danielpour and her sister and business partner Vicky Keston saw his excitement.

“He enjoyed playing the game and wanted to chase real life cavity dragons,” Danielpour said.

Getting children to learn life and social skills like brushing teeth is a main goal of Gooseling, Inc., Danielpour and Keston’s start-up company that combines their leadership and management skills from their past jobs as consultants.

“We want to teach skills that cause the biggest problems with parents,” Danielpour said.

After the release of Cavity Dragons, Danielpour said roughly 10 more ideas are being developed.

Since starting Gooseling a year ago, Danielpour said she has learned a lot from her experience.

“If you believe in something you can make it happen,” she said.

Cavity Dragons can be downloaded for $2.99 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
