Wizard of Oz

“There's No Place Like Home”

Beachwood High School Junior, Jessie Gill stars in Beachwood Community Theater's production of The Wizard Of Oz.  Jessie was first highlighted on Beachwood's stage as the Mayor of Munchkin land.  Four years ago she played the title role of Annie shared with Dani Apple of Solon.  Now Jessie and Dani are both back on the Beachwood stage sharing the role of Dorothy Gale of Kansas.

Beachwood Community Theater and director, Jill Koslen-Freireich are elated to have these exceptional young women back to play the role of Dorothy.  Michael Greene of Lyndhurst returns to Beachwood's stage to play the Scarecrow for his 3rd time.  Michael was also Daddy Warbucks when Jessie & Dani last appeared as Annie.  Other returning adults Gary Samarin(Tinman) of Garfield, Lindsay Silverstein (Lion) of Lyndhurst, Carolyn Pelley (Glinda) of Highland Hts, Tina Krause (Witch) of Chardon & Geo W. Crenshaw (Wizard) of Akron, are thrilled to be back on Beachwood's stage.  All of them have played several roles for the the theater before.

Lindsay Silverstein, the cowardly lion, first played this role for Beachwood Youth Theater in the mid 1980’s prior to it becoming a Community Theater.  It is a joy for director, Jill Koslen-Freireich to have former students returning as adult performers!  Lindsay, who works for the American Heart Association by day has partnered the theme of “Go Red for Women” with Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers.  Heart friendly refreshments will be sold during intermission to benefit the American Heart Association.

Of course, the most excited of all the performers are Jessie & Dani,  because after all, "There's no place like home!"
