Shaker Heights Arts and Music Festival

Celebrate the advent of summer at the second annual Arts & Music Festival, which combines the Craft Fair formerly at Hathaway Brown and the Summer Solstice Festival, previously at the Shaker Colonnade. Located on at 20133 Farnsleigh Road (between Warrensville Center Road and Van Aken Boulevard), Ohio Designer Craftsmen’s premier juried event showcases more than 150 artists and crafts people from 20 states presenting studio glass, jewelry, wearables, ceramics, photography and more. The full day of performing artists, arranged by the Shaker Arts Council, begins at noon on Saturday with the a cappella sounds of Nightingale. Musical performances scheduled throughout the day include acoustic alternative rock by Keith Vance, the Northcoast Jazz Collective, the Irish-Celtic sound of The New Barleycorn, and Noel Quintana's Latin Crew. Swing band and perennial favorite Blue Lunch arrives on stage at 8 PM. Sunday’s performances include Workmen’s Circle Klezmer Orchestra, Cajun rock from Cats on Holiday and the Santana cover band, Evil Ways. Bring a lawn chair, blanket and comfortable shoes just in case the music brings out the dance in you.  Families are invited to participate in children’s activities. Strolling artists throughout the day include a juggler, stilt walker, balloon artist and Master of Ceremonies and magician Richard McClendon.  Be sure to enjoy delicious snacks, refreshments and gourmet meals from local food vendors, perhaps with a glass of wine or beer.
