Memories in Black & White: A Yom HaShoah Commemoration
The community is invited to gather with us to honor Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. We will be opening an exhibit of haunting woodcuts by American artist Leon Gordon Miller and exploring issues of grief and memory. Sharon Friedman will share her family's personal history and original documents from World War II and journalist Sue Hoffman will speak about her interviews with Luba Soldov, a Holocaust and survivor who created the beautiful Ark tapestry in our sanctuary. Musicians Julian and Carol Ross will perform music by composer Zikmund Schul, who died in 1944 while a prisoner at Treblinka. A brief memorial service will be led by Rabbi Allison Vann. Light refreshments will be served.
