Art Exhibition to Feature Susan Woldman, A Painter of Promises
Beachwood-bred Woldman to show with three other women artists
If you think it might be intriguing to see a painting of a promise, you should consider viewing the ethereal work of Susan Woldman.
She has created 31 images, based on the book The Promise Effect that she co-authored with Josselyne Herman-Saccio, and all those paintings will be on display when the presents Art Effect.
This exhibition will be on view at the from November 10 through December 3, 2011 and will feature Woldman along with painters Natasha Turovsky and B. Skufca, and photographer Elisa Vietri.

Woldman has a distinctive style that she describes as “colorful, mystical, and playful.” These images are giclee prints on canvas with added painting and textures, including 24-karat gold details. As a result, each print is a one-of-a-kind creation (the largest being 60 in. x 40 in.), and all will be available for purchase.
As Woldman explains, “Our book provides 31 daily contemplations in the form of promises, each based on a key word such as ‘Courage’ and ‘Freedom.’ The accompanying text and my illustrations provide imagery and tips for people who want to awaken their awareness and work towards becoming someone new.”

Woldman was born in Cleveland and grew up in Beachwood through the tenth grade, attending . In addition to painting, she also works in sculpture and jewelry, with an emphasis on pieces that are multilayered and textural.
Turovsky is a Russian-born, Montreal-based painter and musician known for her surreal abstractions, heavily influenced by her love of music. B. Skufca is a veteran Cleveland artist who creates vibrant oil paintings combining realism, surrealism and middle eastern influences. Vietri is a photographer whose Cleveland images reflect her fascination with vintage photography.
The exhibit is curated by Beachwood alum Karen Katz Wyman and gallery owner Paul Sykes. Not only did Karen graduate from BHS, she is currently a Beachwood Arts Council trustee and her son, Zach, attends Beachwood Middle School.
Art Effect will commence with a preview reception, which is free and open to all, on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will then run from Nov. 11 through Dec. 3 at the Beachwood Community Center, 25225 Fairmount Blvd. Hours: Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
