Allen Friedlander to Show Nationally Renowned Sports Icon Sketches at Montefiore

Inspiring Montefiore resident's alarmingly realistic sketches include ones of Babe Ruth, Marilyn Monroe.

resident and renowned sports icon sketch artist Allen Friedlander will show his work at the nursing home Aug. 30 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Friedlander, dubbed the Mayor of Starbucks in Cleveland Heights, moved to Montefiore in April 2011 and held his first show at the nursing facility last July.

Friedlander is a nationally recognized artist whose near-perfect sketches of sports heroes can still be bought in poster form through dozens of websites.

Friedlander’s show will be in the nursing home’s Maltz Auditorium off David Myers Parkway. It’s free and open to the public, and signed pieces will be available for purchase.
