Wildlife Wendy's Tropical Birds Roost at the Beachwood Library

During her career as an exotic bird handler, Wendy Horton has played to national audiences on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. When the Ohio native stopped at the Cuyahoga County Public Library's Beachwood Branch on Monday, her audience was local and enthusiastic.

Spectators were educated as well as entertained. By the time the 30-minute show ended, they'd learned each bird's place of origin and what they liked to eat. The youngsters also learned that birds should not be petted; the action is interpreted as an attack.

Luckily, no feathers were ruffled.
