Viewfinder: Color Wars at the Bison Day Camp

Kids challenged to use their mouths and their brains to complete eating challenges

Which is harder to eat without hands: a doughnut that's hanging from a string, or a pan full of pudding? Campers at the Bison Day Camp undoubtedly have an answer.

The food competitions were part of the camp's color war activities held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The camp is located at Hilltop Elementary School and sponsored by the city's department of recreation.

Members of opposing teams vied to see who could chew a graham cracker and whistle, or who was fastest at unwrapping and eating a piece of taffy. The event was a relay, but clearing these hurdles required speed and ingenuity. That was especially true with the donut on the string. One wrong bite, and it would land in the grass - not in the mouth.
