Beachwood Trick or Treat Set for Monday

Read on for safety tips from the CDC

Beachwood's Trick or Treat night will be Monday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released safety tips for trick-or-treaters and their parents. Here are a few from their pages, and you can follow this link for the full list.

  • Don't go alone! (Besides, how else will you swap out your carrot sticks for Kit Kats?)
  • The sun will set around 6:20 p.m. on Halloween night. Use a flashlight and attach reflective tape to your costumes so cars can see them.
  • If your costume entails swords or knives, use soft flexible fakes.
  • Check out the treats before you eat - don't accept homemade treats and make sure there are no choking hazards.
  • Look both ways before you cross the street, and use crosswalks if you can.
  • Avoid decorative contact lenses and remove costume makeup before bed to prevent irritation.
  • Don't enter homes unless you're with a trusted adult.
  • Take care around decorative candles and luminaries.

Make sure your kids' costumes are warm, too - temperatures are expected to peak in the high 40s Monday.
