Get Out: Safety Town, Photography Camp and Tech Camp

Plan your week around these events for kids and adults

SAFETY TOWN

Where/When: / July 26 to Aug. 5, offered during three sessions: 9 to 11 a.m., noon to 2 p.m. or 3 to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Patrolman Roger Martin and Sherry Bogart will teach children entering kindergarten safety habits related to bus, pedestrian and personal safety. Children learn through actual participation.

Price: $30 for residents, $45 for non-residents

ANTICS TECH CAMP

Where/When: / July 25 to 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Tech Camp is a one-week program teaching video game design, stop-motion animation and LEGO robotics to kids ages 9 to 14. Classroom Antics, a Cleveland-area company that uses technology to advance learning, will lead the camp.

Price: $425

Photography Camp

Where/When: / July 25 to 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: This one-week program will cover 35mm manual camera exposure controls, black and white film processing, basic and creative darkroom printing and more. Camera, chemicals, film and papers are provided, but children should bring a brown bag lunch each day.

Price: $139 for residents, $149 for non-residents

RALPHIE MAY AT HILARITIES

Where/When:  Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and 10:15 p.m

Why Go: Known as much for his girth as his hilarious outlook on life, Ralphie May brings his standup to Hilarities for five shows. May finished in second place during the first season of Last Comic Standing in 2003 and taped three Comedy Central specials: Girth of a Nation (2006), Prime Cut (2007) and Austin-tatious (2008).

Price: $30

CLEVELAND IRISH CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Where/When: Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds/ July 22-24

Why Go: The 29th annual festival will include three days of bands, food and drink to celebrate Cleveland’s Irish heritage
