Get Out: Beachwood High Student Performs at The Grog Shop and Screening of 'Family in Captivity'

Plan your week around these activities for kids and adults

Where/When: The Grog Shop/ Sunday, June 26 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Chloe Hernane, who graduated earlier this month from Beachwood High School, will sing with rapper Lil’ Marv in her second live performance there and the last before she goes to The Ohio State University in the fall. Uptowne Buddha, another local hip hop group, will also perform.

Where/When: Mandel Center’s Stonehill Auditorium/ Monday, June 27 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: This documentary follows the family of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who on June 25, 2006, was captured by Palestinian Hamas, a group listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of State. Proceeds from the screening will go to the benefit to free Shalit.

Price: $7

ROBOTICS IN ACTION

Where/When: / Monday through Friday, June 27 to July 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: For children ages 5 to 8, kids learn about building, designing and programming a large-scale robot. Two teams of five will compete against each other creating a robot that will do battle.

Price: $139 for residents, $149 for non-residents, plus a $15 materials fee.

ART HISTORY FOR DUMMIES

Where/When: / Friday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to noon

Why Go: Jesse Bryant Wilder, author of Art History for Dummies, presents an interactive multimedia presentation that commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Price: Free

SNL’S JAY PHAROAH AT HILARITIES

Where/When: Hilarities 4th Street Theater/ Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 7:15 and 10:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Jay Pharoah, who has become a rising Saturday Night Live star because of his impressions of Eddie Murphy, Will Smith and Denzel Washington, will perform six shows tonight through Sunday.
