Dance-a-Thon to Honor Boy's Battle with Leukemia

Proceeds of an upcoming Dance-a-Thon at Menorah Park will benefit the Carter Nedney Foundation

It's hard to think of a better reason to pull out your dancing shoes than supporting families affected by cancer.

Menorah Park hopes area residents will do that or come watch others do so at a Dance-a-Thon next Friday starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Menorah Park auditorium. Proceeds will go to the Carter Nedley Foundation, which routinely provides food, entertainment, toys and more to the families of cancer patients.

Carter Nedney, the son of Menorah Park staff member, Lisa Nedney, lost his battle to acute myelogenous Leukemia in 2010. Soon Lisa and husband, Jason, formed the nonprofit group in Carter's memory.

Menorah Park residents and children of the FUNdamentals daycare program will be the primary people dancing, but spokeswoman Sherry Gavanditti said the public is also welcome to come join in.

"People are encouraged to come watch and donate to a wonderful cause," Gavandatti said.
