What Are You Thankful For This Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is almost here. Tell us what you’re thankful for in the comments.

Sure, there’s the turkey and pumpkin pie. And there’s football for sports fans and parades for the kids and early morning shopping for the deal-seekers.

But Thanksgiving is also a day about reflection. It’s a day to stop and think about all the good in our lives.

So we want to know: when all is said and done, what are you giving thanks for this year?

It can be silly or sweet, simple or profound. We just want to hear it.

Here are a few responses from Patch readers in the region. Check them out, and then tell us what you’re grateful for in the comments.

Dawn Blythe of Jackson Township said:
“I'm thankful for a husband who provides so I can be a stay at home mom! We may not have a fancy house, the nicest cars, or the newest things, but I can be w/ my kiddos, and that is so much more important to me than the other stuff.”

Denise McDannold of Canton said:
“I am thankful for my 3 boys who bring joy to my life. Also for my husband who provides a beautiful home for us to be a family in. In our busy lives, we forget how thankful we are, but I am so thankful for the many friends I have and are there in good times and in bad. Where would we be without them? Here’s to FRIENDS. And last I am thankful for the Patch, what a great site to discover. You rock.”

Family and friends by far are what I'm most thankful for, but what also came to mind was this beautiful fall we've had in Cleveland. I expected the first snowfall to come sometime in July. As far as food goes, I'm obsessed with sweet potatoes. And I'm grateful to have a job in my field that allows me to meet so many people in one community.

I'm thankful that we'll all be taking a day to step back from the everyday craziness of life and remember what's really important— friends, family and freedom from fear.

And, of course, green bean casserole. It's the best part of the meal!

I'm grateful for good health, an interesting worklife, my loving family and a snug home. Then there is my sister-in-law's sweet-potato casserole with marshmallow topping. I'm really thankful for that.

I'm thankful for my family and friends. I thank God every day for them. Without them I'd be lost! Especially my grandma and grandpa they were the heart of my family. I will miss them always, but still so very, very grateful they were in my life. I'm also thankful for my dogs, my hairy kids. Oh! And did I mention my mom's pecan pie?! Oh yeah!!!

I am thankful for my faith - God carries me through the curves and pitfalls life presents, for my health and my loving family, dear friends who are chosen family. I'm grateful that i have a job and the devoted volunteers who support us at the Hoover Historical Center - they are dear to my heart. Being a grammy - the grandbabies are such a delight - like whip cream on pecan pie and pumpkin pie!

I'm thankful for the many gifts that God has given me, for a flexible job as an Independent AVON Sales Representative so I can devote as much time needed to my husband, children and participate in well-loved activities like writing, all aspects of theater, and being an active volunteer of Pilgrim Church. Oh...and we can't forget the pumpkin pie!

Being thankful for family and friends goes without saying. I am thankful for a career that allows me to meet so many people right in my community and those nearby. It is so refreshing to walk into businesses and events and instantly know people and connect! I am thankful for a warm house, dependable car, and for my two foster dogs: Griffin & Aurick. Those doggies have given my Remi buddies to play with!
