I'm Nikki Ferrell, the editor of Beachwood Patch, a website that operates on the idea that informed, engaged community is a better community.
At Beachwood Patch, you will find stories about crime, government and business, but a team of freelancers and I will also cover the events you want to see, from the plays at the Mandel Jewish Community Center and Beachwood High School to Family Fun Day to the Green Dream Showcase. We will be at the city council and board of education meetings. We will review restaurants and cover high school swimming.
But I want you to be a part of Patch, too! Post your own photos. Check out our directory, where you can find descriptions, hours, contacts and even menu items for local businesses, and give your own two cents about the best burger in town. Find a weekend diversion on our calendar, and if you don't see your event there, add it. And don't forget about the announcements page, where you can brag about your son or daughter's scholarship, find a volunteer opportunity or see who's gotten engaged.
Don't forget to add us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the latest news as its happening.
Beachwood residents take great pride in their nationally lauded school system and low taxes, the Mandel Jewish Community Center and the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, and the city's low crime rate.
I graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, and have worked at the Dayton Daily News and the Greene County Dailies. I haven't lived here long but I've already felt warmly welcomed in this beautiful community.
You've probably already seen me working at Starbucks or the library, at a council meeting or taking photos around town. If you see me again, stop and say hi – I'd love to hear from you. I want to hear your news tips, story ideas and how you think I'm doing. Email me or call me at 216-346-7380.
The more you are involved, the more Beachwood Patch will become Beachwood's Patch.
