Two Board of Education Candidates Join Forces

Steve Rosen and Alec Isaacson announce they will run together for Beachwood City Schools BOE

Two of the three candidates running for Beachwood City Schools Board of Education have announced they are running a joint campaign.

Steve Rosen and Alec Isaacson will run on a joint ticket, they announced in a press release today. Rosen is the owner of Business Sounds On Hold, a Beachwood-based company that provides hold music to other companies, according to the release. It does not specify where Isaacson works.

The two are running against Joshua Mintz, a Beachwood native who works in auto sales and leasing.

Lines of communication between the city and school district need improvement, the release states. “The Board and Council have the city’s best interests at heart, but they need to more closely cooperate and support each other,” Isaacson said in the release.

Lisa: I agree. I am a bit distraught that the article points out that Mr. Isaacson and M. Rosen are "running against" Mr. Mintz, but it doesn't say what they are running FOR. What do these candidates stand for? What do they truly know? What are their plans/visions? I would be more impressed if two people run together to save money, what concerns me is that two people are running together and we'll get more "group think" vs. careful analysis and transparency.

Lisa, A great way to help ensure the Board is meeting their responsibilities is to attend the meetings on a regular basis. They meet the second and fourth Monday night each month in the Fairmount Bldg. I encourage everyone in the district to attend meetings. As I did, you'll learn more about the great programs and opportunities our children have and the wonderful things they are doing.

For instance, at last nights meeting, Athletic Director Ryan Peters gave a presentation about our sports programs that illustrated we have a great array of programs for our Middle and High School students to participate in. For a district as small as ours, I'm happy to report the choices are plentiful.
