Small Businesses Find New Home for Support

Following Beachwood's business incubator closing, CSU has partnered with Cleveland Heights

Cleveland Heights Patch has reported that Cleveland State University's Small Business Development Center, formerly located in Beachwood, has found a new home just a few miles away.

The Beachwood Business Development Center opened on Chagrin Boulevard in 2005 and housed several business start-ups over the past five years, providing infrastructure, support and strategic planning to local entrepreneurs. Last year, the Cleveland State University Nance College of Business Administration joined the effort.

Beachwood's incubator closed this month due to budget constraints, but it was announced at the Cleveland Heights council meeting Monday night that the city has partnered with CSU to open a new Small Business Development Center in City Hall.

The businesses that used the incubator in Beachwood will not move to Cleveland Heights' center.

In late 2010, however, the city announced that budget restraints would force the city to close the business incubator’s doors.
