The City of Shaker Heights will host a fireworks display on July 4 at dusk.
The display will be at Shaker Middle School, 20600 Shaker Blvd. The sun sets at around 9 p.m.
Attendees should park on the streets in Shaker Heights, said Shaker Heights Community Information Representative Julie Voyzey, but it will be limited and traffic is expected to be heavy.
She suggests that people take the RTA Rapid and walk to the school. (Transit directions)
Parking will not be available at the middle school.
Signs will be posted directing traffic, and a full plan will be published later this week, said Shaker Heights Police Deputy Chief Mike Schwarber. We will post that here as soon as it's available.
Last year's event was marked with some fights and other disturbances, and Schwarber said the department is bulking up its presence during the event this year.
"We're always on the lookout for that and we're going to have extra people there this year," said Schwarber.
