Poll: Do You Keep or Kick New Year Resolutions?

Take our poll and tell us whether you've been able to stick to the promises many of us make at the beginning of the year

Go to the gym. Establish a better work-life balance. Spend more time with family. Pay off debts. Pack lunch and cook dinner more.

You’ve likely selected one of the resolutions above to work on in a New Year. Maybe you've selected one of these for 2012.

But have you kept the promises you made?

Take our poll below and tell us if you've met the goals you've set for yourself. And if you succeeded, tell us why below. We want to know the secret!

I kept my New Year Resolution in 2011. My resolution was to make at least 2 new friends. I met 3 and they all have brought new ideas and charms with them. I will continue building my new friendships in 2012.
I am going to set a 2012 resolution by midnight tonight.

I've found that it's helpful to not put so much pressure on myself to come up with and stick to a New Year's resolution. Every day is a chance to make a change for the better. There's no need to wait for some arbitrary day to set goals. New Year's is a great reminder to take a step back and reflect on what I want to change, but it's not the only chance we get.

I agree. Many people put too much pressure on New Years resolutions and don't keep them as a result. You're much better off starting to work on your goals at any other time of year. Additionally, people are often not specific enough with goals, or the steps they need to take to achieve them. Okay I want to lose 10 pounds. Instead of that how about: I want to eat healthier or I want to hit the gym 4 times a week or I want to eat out less (say only once a week). If you did all that you'd lose 10 pounds anyways, but it takes the pressure off.
