The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider measures to allow new apartments in Beachwood at tonight’s meeting.
Measures under consideration would allow an apartment building at Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard and another apartment complex on George Zieger Drive.
Council referred the ordinances to P&Z for consideration at its Jan. 3 meeting.
A concept plan presented at a January City Council meeting calls for a four-story apartment building with 340 units and a two-story parking garage where Commerce Park Buildings I, II and III stand at the southeast corner of the intersection Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard.
The Commerce Park property sold for $4.1 million in September to The NRP Group, LLC and Munsell Realty Advisors, LLC. Smerigan said the buildings will be torn down to make room for the new apartments if the legislation passes. Tenants from those offices will move to buildings IV and V.
Goldberg Companies is also seeking preliminary site approval for a luxury apartment complex next to its Four Seasons apartments on George Zeiger Drive.
Ordinances sent to Planning and Zoning must be sent back to City Council for a final vote.
Planning and Zoning meets at 7 p.m. in City Hall's Council Chambers.
