Menorah Park residents Melba Roderick (left) Susan Pierce (center) and staff member Kathleen Betlejewski flash peace signs to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival.

On Aug. 15, 1969, a crowd that grew to 500,000 turned an outdoor musical festival into a cultural event.

That event was Woodstock, and its anniversary was celebrated at the Rosebluth Creative Arts Center at Menorah Park. Of course, the crowd was much smaller, but the peace signs flying around the room, the tie-dye shirts and brownies brought a bit of the 1960s back to the present.
