Who Should Cleveland Select? Patch Draft Party Preview

Patch is hosting a Draft Party at Solon Panini's at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Now get ready for the draft by telling us who you think Cleveland should select with its first three picks.

So many choices. Three picks.

Who will Cleveland select with the team's first three picks in the pro-football draft?

More importantly, who would you pick if you were running the team?

DRAFT PARTY WITH PATCH: Come to Solon Panini's at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. You'll have the chance to win free food!

Cleveland has the fourth and 22nd pick in the first round, and the 37th pick in the second round.

If they draft studs, they will finally claw out from the bottom of the league. If they draft bums, then Cleveland will most likely stink for another decade. Yes, Cleveland has 10 more picks besides those three, but the top of the draft is mainly where the stars come from, and if this team needs anything, it's stars!

There's plenty of top talent available to the Browns: There's Trent Richardson, the best running back available. A beast. There's Justin Blackmon, probably the best wide receiver, which is a giant need for this team.

Or there's the offensive lineman Matt Kalil, or the cornerback Morris Claiborne, or the quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

So tell us in the comments: Who you would take?

I'll get it started with my picks:

4: Trent Richardson, runningback, Alabama
22: Rueben Randle, wide receiver, LSU
37: Jonathan Martin, Tackle, Stanford

I say no quarterback this year, see how Colt McCoy does this season and then move on from there. Do you agree?

Too many needs to draft a QB. They need: WR ...RB ...OT .... LB .... DB. In other words -- playmakers who can actually get the ball into the end zone. Love either Richardson or Blackmon as first pick. Maybe grab a Weeden in 4th or 5th round, but if he's not there, bag the QB notion.

I like your thinking Jake. Who would you like with the 22nd pick in the first round? Right tackle? Defense?

Yes, Jake is right with the fourth pick. Either Blackmon or Richardson are great picks. But if Blackmon isn't there, grab Richardson and hopefully a reciever like Michael Floyd (Notre Dame) or Stephen Hill (Georgia Tech) will be there at 22.

As for 37, I think if Brandon Weedon is there, you gotta grab him. I love McCoy, but Weeden would be a great backup and competitor.

So who wants to tell me I'm wrong? ;)

If we want to give Colt an honest shot, I'm about getting Richardson, and then using 37 to help trade back up to snag Michael Floyd. Doubt that happens, so realistically I like Richardson, then Kendall Wright or Stephen Hill and then if Weeden is still there at 37, you take him. Even with better playmakers, I don't think Colt magically gets a stronger arm or stops wandering INTO the rush, so I'm fine with finding his replacement.

I like Weeden, and wouldn't be upset if they take him at 37. I don't think Colt is going to be a stud, like Brandon said, but I think there's a chance he can be much, much better this year with playmakers around him. And if he stinks, well, you get a QB next year.
