New Park Open on Acacia Site
Acacia Reservation's 155 acres, 1.7 mile paved path open to the public
A new park is open on the former site of the Acacia Country Club in Lyndhurst.
The Acacia Reservation, a 155-acre Cleveland MetroParks site, was bought for $14.75 million by Arlington, Va.-based Conservation Fund, which in turn donated the site to the parks system.
The Cedar Road park just outside Beachwood's borders has a 1.7-mile loop — part of the paved path that was there when it was a country club — and green space that patrons can use.
MetroParks staff is now reviewing bids from food vendors to run a small restaurant or cafe from the former clubhouse. Even if a cafe is not possible, said a parks spokesperson, Acacia will have event catering available.
As far as what else will be done there, MetroParks is looking for public input. A forum was held last week and more will be scheduled soon, said the spokesperson.
Leashed dogs are allowed. Though the front building is not yet open to the public, the rest of the park is open daily 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
