Mysterious Writer Says Obama Voters 'Going to Hell': Best of the Blotter

Here are some of the weirdest police reports and incidents from departments across the region.

Here are this week's most bizarre police calls, reports and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

An ideological threat — Political tensions are high between some Lakewood residents, and not just because of stolen signs.

Several residents in the 17000 block of Narragansett Avenue told police about a note they received in their mailboxes on Oct. 26. The writer said they would be "going to hell if they voted for President Obama in the upcoming elections.”

The author remains unknown, and police have been asked to stay alert for more incidents.

Sleepy break-in — Cuyahoga Falls Police arrested a man who is accused of breaking into another man's home and sleeping in his bed this week.

A resident woke up around 4 a.m. Thursday to find that his home had been broken into. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Jacob S. Parker asleep in the resident's bed. Parker, an Akron resident, became violent when police tried to wake him. He was then tasered.

Officers also saw Parker's car parked in the driveway with the driver's side door open. The car contained items belonging to Parker's girlfriend, who was at home and intoxicated.

He was arraigned Thursday at Stow Municipal Court on charges of burglary and resisting arrest.

Unwelcome gestures — Police say a Mantua man got intoxicated before making women uncomfortable inside a Twinsburg grocery store and in the parking lot.

A woman called police on Oct. 24 to report a man who allegedly licked his lips while looking at her and her daughter as he drove up and down the parking lot aisles of Giant Eagle. Police found an open beer can in 21-year-old Steven Negrich's truck, but the man was already inside the store by that point.

Officers said Negrich was "staggering" around the store. He denied making the gesture, but admitted to drinking the beer.

A pharmacist also said that Negrich entered the woman's restroom while she was using it. She said he stood in the room and smiled at her before exiting.

Police arrested Negrich on disorderly conduct and intoxication charges.

Too bad someone didn't ID the car while they were delivering their hate "mail". Unless you put postage on your mail and have the a government mail-person deliver it, you are violating Federal Law putting anything into a person's mailbox.

Wow ... listen to yourselves! Nothing is more frightening in this world than a religious nutter who thinks (s)he's right. The suburban Midwest would be a comedy goldmine -- if some of you weren't so genuinely scary with your beliefs.

I can only assume there will be a good old fashioned witch burning in the Walmart parking lot when Obama is re-elected!

So If I read/ watch the liberal news 99.9% will be going to hell. hahha

Indeed — but try telling them that. It is literally like talking to a wall. It's no different than trying to explain that a Christian government theocracy in America would QUICKLY be exactly like an Islamic government theocracy in Iran. Parallels, metaphors & analogies are NOT the strong-suit of the average religious nutter, I've found (often!).

You are so right, and the reason is lack of education and plain old brainwashing by the church and Republican Party. Look at the statistics from the "red" states; they generally have the lowest I.Q.'s, the least high school graduates, and ironically, the highest number of welfare recipients. They are so buffaloed that they vote loyally for the same Republicans that plan on taking away or reducing their benefits! They are NOT the sharpest knives in the drawer!

Yes ... given time and theocracy. But Christians aren't taking over the US government — because we won't allow it to happen.

It starts as a trickle and becomes a tsunami — this & that violation, plastic baby jesus on the court house lawn at Xmas, slipping 'under god' into the Pledge of Allegiance, adding "In God We Trust" to the currency, prayer in schools, annexing the uteri of all women, abandoning science & medicine for 'prayer & healing', burning gays on crosses — but it won't happen. We won't let you.

Its a stupid statement no matter the time. The rest of your comments don't deserve a comment. Its silly to think displaying the Infant Jesus during Christmas is taking over the government.

Amen Ed there was a group that met in Washington DC the end of Sept. All Republican including Ryan showed up to speak at this meeting. The group is called
VALUE'S SUMMIT. This was there agenda:
In addition to focus on female insides, the self appointed rule makers have decided we as a gender, are showing too much of our outsides. But fear not, they've got us covered. More litterally that you might think. Literature being handed out at the Value Summit on Friday attacks women for being "immodest" and extolled them to " go home and put some clothes on." In flyers handed out and on display at Values Summit, the organization called Modesty Matters criticized women for dressing "immodeslty" and blamied women for causing men to stare lustfully at them

Yes – isn't it a bit, well, INSANE that the onus is always placed on the woman to dress differently & cover more of her flesh ... rather than just asking men to, I dunno, CONTROL THEMSELVES AND NOT RAPE WOMEN. It seems to be Conservative America's greatest cultural 'Duh'. Rape is bad — men rape — it's a man problem not a woman problem — sort it out, you self-important, responsibility-free, penis-bearing Neanderthals.

The "hell letter writer" got his material from former Arkansas governor and Republican Presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee. Just this past week there was a big story where he claimed that God is keeping tract of everybody's vote for all eternity. He said that since Obama is pro-choice on abortion and birth control, he supports killing innocent babies, supports gay marriage, too, and if you vote for him, you will automatically be sent to Hell for all eternity. Your vote is kept for all eternity by God, and on Judgement Day, you are going to BURN! So this guy is just being a good Republican and parroting what he is told. There is also a brand new television ad with this same threat urging you to vote for Romney. Huckabee is also an ordained Southern Baptist minister/nutcase/extremist. Think American Taliban!

We should be proud of both candidates. They are impressive men, but both offering different policies.

In my opinion, we need to reform spending, taxes and the government.

We are all agreed on the need for tax reform. Any recall what the original purpose of the AMT was? Yep, to make sure the "wealthy" pays "fair share". Now its nailing the middle class and filled with loopholes.

Many have asserted Romney's tax plan favors the rich.

"Romney's idea for capping individuals’ tax deductions at $17,000 would impose a burden that would fall hardest on the wealthiest taxpayers, who make the most use of the breaks."

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-03/romney-17-000-deduction-cap-first-of-three-part-proposal.html

I think ironic that we were all focused on Romney's, Buffet's and other wealthy folks low tax rates just a few weeks ago. The reason the wealthy pay such low rates is because of our outdated/bloated tax code. Imagine those making over $1 million paying a flat rate of 20% vs 14%, etc.

We need a simpler tax code.

Spending?

See CNBC's "Are we rich or poor?" debate (worth watching):

When I google CBO's long term projections, the current system is unsustainable.

http://bipartisanpolicy.org/projects/debt-initiative/about

And government reforms?

Let's see, SEC & Madoff, Dept Mining/BP, etc. The gov't has turned into a DMV filled with tenured jobs. I'm FedUp.

There's been spinning on both sides keeping in mind our "media" is liberal.

Romney's Jeep ad merely states they are planning to make Jeeps in China. Some are saying not true "since not at the expense of any US jobs". This makes no sense. What Romney is saying is true. The question is whether that Jeeps should be made here and exported to China vs made in China.

I've heard from many (including our President during the last debate) that Romney "would have liquidated the auto industry".

CNN Reality Check: Erin Burnett clarifies the "auto bailout" spin from the media.

Let's start with the allegedly Romney NY Times Op Ed entitled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt". HE DIDN'T WRITE THAT. His title was something like "The Way Forward for the Auto Industry". The horribly pathetically biased NY Times wrote that title.

This is the first time I've heard this. Amazing.

Romney merely proposed an orderly bankruptcy. Guess what, that's what ended up happening after taxpayor funding. A bankruptcy.

Here's the CNN link:

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2012/10/26/exp-erin-romney-2008-detroit-bankruptcy-oped-john-podest-andy-card.cnn?iref=videosearch

Literally trillions have been spent by gov't and fed to stimulate the economy and this is where we are. See CNBC's "Are we rich or poor?" debate (worth watching) to understand my concerns:

"Mark my words, if and when these preachers get control of the (REPUBLICAN) party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these CHRISTIANS believe they are acting in the name of GOD, so they can't and won't compromise, I know I've tried to deal with them.
