Heat Advisory in Effect Until 8 p.m.

Beachwood residents: Take care of yourself and check on your neighbors

A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight for Cuyahoga County.

Heat index values could reach 100 degrees today, the National Weather Service warns. The office advises you to plan strenuous activity for later tonight, if possible, and check on your neighbors and relatives, especially the elderly.

If you will be outside, the service advises, you should wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and take regular breaks in the shade or in air conditioning.

My favorite FAVORITE way to beat the heat are those popsicles - well, colorful sugar water tubes that you buy in a case of 600 for $1.99 and stick in the freezer. Mmmm...I need to run to the store.
