Why Go: The fifth annual FilmFest kicks off Sunday with the film Noodles, an encore presentation of a film that is an audience favorite from past festivals. The film, which is in Hebrew and Mandarin with English subtitles, follows the story of a twice-widowed flight attendant for Israeli airline, El Al, who encounters an abandoned Chinese boy whose migrant working mother has disappeared.

THREE-ACRE CORN MAZE
Where/When: Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland / open daily, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., until Oct. 9
Why Go: Like it or not, summer is quickly winding down, so why not embrace fall with a little early corn maze action?
Price: Ages 2 to 11: $4, ages 12 to 59: $6, ages 60 and up: $5 and children younger than 2 get in free.
HEY MAVIS PERFORMS
Where/When: Brookside Reservation Special Event Site (adjacent to the Cleveland Zoo) on John Nagy Boulevard off the Ridge Road entrance / 4 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: This local trio follows in the footsteps of others nationally who have brought back the folk genre, like The Decembrists and Mumford & Sons. The group plays a more traditional bluegrass/folk style steeped in Americana.
