Free Parking in Cleveland Heights Starts Friday

The City of Cleveland Heights extended its free parking weekends on one designated weekend each month until the end of the year.

The City of Cleveland Heights is offering free parking at all on-street, garage and parking lot meters this weekend.

You don't need to feed the meters Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28.

The city provided free parking during three weekends over the summer as part of its "Summer in the City" celebration.

Not surprisingly, the promotion was a success, so Cleveland Heights has extended the offer until the end of the year on the last weekend of each month.

Here are the upcoming free parking weekend dates:

  • Oct. 26, 27 & 28
  • Nov. 23, 24 & 25
  • Dec. 28, 29 & 30

"It gives people a chance to rediscover Cleveland Heights and let people know Cleveland Heights is alive and well and let people see the restaurants and shops here," said Mayor Ed Kelley in an interview in June. "I think it will be an economic engine for businesses and get people to come to Cleveland Heights and see us again."

I wonder how much it costs the City to offer these free weekends?

My guess would be that they don't know, and hadn't ever considered the question. But that's just my guess.
