City of Beachwood Joins Social Media Realm

Follow to get community, business and city info

The City of Beachwood has launched official Facebook and Twitter accounts to help residents stay current with the latest information.

"We believe social media will enhance our ability to share news relating to local business, community events, city services and other key issues," wrote Mayor Merle Gorden in a statement.

He added that the tools will be helpful in getting information directly to the residents - especially those who may not check the city's website for news.

Marketing consultants Lesic & Camper have been contracted by the city to run public relations through 2012 as the city works to revamp economic development.

In addition to social media responsibilities, Lesic & Camper is responsible for producing a newsletter about the city’s economic progress, managing media relations, developing marketing materials for the city, recommend an advertising strategy, assisting with signage and rebranding and promotional event planning and marketing.

The company will also assist with a website redesign and produce a promotional video, marketing the city to potential residents and help with the Beachwood Buzz’s content and design.

Lesic & Camper is paid $5,000 a month for services to the city.
