Beachwood High School Construction Update Tonight

Board of Education to get latest information on high school renovations

The Beachwood Board of Education will hear an update on the high school construction during tonight's special meeting.

The $35.6 million renovation will complete in August 2013, but work will not disrupt classroom time, the district notes.

Last summer, the district built two new wings, an art studio and gym, and during the 2012-2013 school year and summer, the old wings will be torn down and a new media center, multipurpose room and main office will be built. Renovations of the pool, south gym, dining hall, auditorium, library and athletci fields will also take place this year.

The renovations is funded mainly by a levy voters approved in 2010. Federal stimulus money will pay a $5.6 million share of the cost.

is the student population still growing? If not, it seems like they don't know what to do with all of this money.
