Boy tells Mitchell’s employee he is high, running from police
Monday, April 25, 9:07 p.m. - Security at Nordstrom in the Beachwood Place Mall called police to tell four boys to leave the store because they were being loud and disorderly. Police found them and told them to wait for a ride home at LaPlace, but about 20 minutes later an employee from Mitchell’s Ice Cream at LaPlace called police to report that a boy had run into the store. The boy said he was high and he was running from police, and he was one of the boys from the incident at Nordstrom. The officer drove him home and called his father.
Man hit by water bottle from car
Tuesday, April 26, 12:33 a.m. – A man called police to report that he was walking on Chagrin Boulevard and was hit with a water bottle from a moving car. He was taken home without injuries, and no charges were filed.
Firearm found near Hilltop Elementary
Thursday, April 28, 2:32 p.m. – A sewer company contacted police after they found a .22-caliber revolver in a catch basin at 25150 Hilltop Drive. Police could not find a serial number and logged it into their property room.
Man threatens employee after he is denied free contact lenses
Friday, April 29, 12:18 p.m. – Employees from Western Reserve Eye Care called police because a man harassed them on the phone after they told him he could not have free contact lenses. The man told employees he was not “done” with them yet, and that he was on his way to the store. Police told the employees to call if the man came and, from his name and city, gave the employees the description of a car he might drive.
Women arrested for shoplifting, leads to drug charges
Friday, April 29, 7:25 p.m. – Two women were arrested at Beachwood Place Mall for stealing more than $300 of merchandise. When police searched them they found drug paraphernalia, too, and added drug charges to their arrests.
Juveniles steal more than $1,000 of merchandise
Friday, April 29, 10:20 p.m. – Two juveniles were arrested at Saks Fifth Avenue at the Beachwood Place Mall and charged with stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise.
Drunk man found sleeping on his car
Friday, April 29, 11:49 p.m. – Someone called police to report that a large drunk man was sleeping on top of his car in the parking lot of the Embassy Suites. When police found the man, he told them he was waiting for a ride and they should be there within 10 minutes. Officers waited with the man.

That's frightening a gun found on the same street of an elementary school that children walk to.

For the record, the gun was NOT found near the school. It was found discarded in a sewer at the other end of the street, closer to Richmond Road than to the school.
