Assault Stemming From Sandwich Dispute Lands Man in Hospital

Man accused of assaulting employee at local sandwich spot because he was unhappy with his sandwich.

A man was arrested at Charley's Subs at the Beachwood Place Mall after police say he punched an employee, sending him to the hospital, over a sandwich.

York Burks, 19, was arrested and charged with simple assault and trespassing Saturday, Nov. 17, just before 9 p.m.

Beachwood Police said that he went to Charley's with a complaint about his sandwich. The employee told him that they would refund his money with a receipt, but Burks did not have one.

That's when Burks reportedly jumped over the counter and punched the employee in the face.

The employee went to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Burks is scheduled to be arraigned in Shaker Heights Municipal Court Dec. 4.
