Homegrown Rabbi Returns to Serve Local Congregation!

Rabbi Shoshana Nyer, a Cleveland native and graduate of Brush High School, will begin serving Suburban Temple-Kol Ami as Director of Lifelong Education on July 5.  Since her ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2003, she has been serving as Associate Rabbi and Educator of Temple B’nai Shalom in Fairfax, Virginia.  While there, she directed a religious school of 300 students, created engaging holiday programs and innovative youth initiatives, and developed a “reel theology” course, combining Jewish thought and pop culture.

"I am honored to have been offered the position of Director of Lifelong Learning at Suburban Temple-Kol Ami," Rabbi Nyer shares.  "I see a community that is warm and welcoming and truly wants to learn and grow together.  The fact that I get to return home is icing on the cake!"  Shana returns to Cleveland with her husband Stephen and daughter Emily.

Suburban Temple-Kol Ami is an egalitarian and inclusive Reform Jewish community that welcomes Jewish, interfaith, LGBT and multiracial seniors, couples, singles, single parent and dual parent families.  For more information about the congregation, visit our website or contact Director of Congregational Life Lisa Kollins at 216.991.0700 or lkollins@suburbantemple.org.
